Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Wilmington, NC. I've worked in a variety of areas of social work over my career--foster care, hospice, school social work and sexual violence prevention and advocacy. I received my Master's of Social Work from Appalachian State University and have been an LCSW since 2017. I started my therapy practice in 2021, and I specialize in offering EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy with a focus on relationship trauma.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next? Whether you are trying counseling for the first time or you’ve met with a therapist before, I work to establish a warm and affirming space for my clients. I recognize that the therapy process looks different for each person, and I am grateful for the opportunity to provide the support that can make this process a little less scary. While I have worked with people of various walks of life, I most enjoy serving folks coping with anxiety, adjustment, stress, and navigating marginalized identities.
I’m Remington Vandergriff, LCSW, BCD, CCTP, a medically retired U.S. Army Major, owner of Bonafide Therapeutic Alliance, a virtual-only practice serving clients across TN. With 12+ years of experience, I specialize in men’s mental health, Veteran issues, & LCSW supervision.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices. I do not provide couples or family therapy.
That said, I believe that true healing comes from a strong therapeutic alliance, not just the treatment model or credentials. My clients often describe feeling at ease, heard, and genuinely understood, which forms the foundation for meaningful change.
Life can feel overwhelming at times and even taking that first step of calling a therapist can seem insurmountable. The stigma of seeking care can be difficult to ignore. Feel free to send a text or email if a call isn't in the cards right now. I've been in that dark cave, and I know the way out, I hope you'll reach out so I can be of aid.
I believe there is power in learning to balance our lives emotionally and spiritually. I have 20-plus years as a counselor and have been able to help clients find emotional and general life balance. I draw from primary treatment modalities of Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Solution Focused, Psychodynamic and Existential Theories. Ideally, at the conclusion of counseling, a client will be able to actively deal with their internal states in a way that allows them to feel more at peace with increased self-esteem, and well-being.
